The Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB), and Pikes Peak Country Attractions Association (PPCAA) are collaborating once again for the 2012 Colorado Springs Official Visitor’s Guide (OVG).
Each year, an inspirational and vibrant photo is chosen to represent the Colorado Springs region on the cover. This cover entices people to pick up the publication or download the electronic version at VisitCOS.com. Previous subject matter has included natural gems such as Pikes Peak-America’s Mountain and Garden of the Gods Park. The CVB and PPCAA are making a call to residents and visitors for possible cover photos. Those who wish to participate can post photos to the Colorado Springs, Colorado Facebook Page by 5pm Friday, October 14, 2011. A high resolution version should be available if needed. If chosen, the winner will be awarded $500 and have their imagery featured on the 2012 OVG Cover.
The magazine-style OVG is the second most widely distributed publication for the entire state of Colorado with a print run of at least 600,000 copies. The OVG is the primary piece sent out for inquiries of the Pikes Peak Region. OVGs are distributed individually to 150,000 people each year who request the guide via phone, email and VisitCOS.com, in addition to any visitors stopping by the Visitor Information Center. All other OVGs are divided among hotels, attractions, welcome centers and visitors centers throughout the state. They are also distributed in key feeder markets such as Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Nebraska.
*Restrictions and Guidelines: Photo must be submitted by the photographer, who must be the owner of the submitted photo and have full exclusive rights to their submitted image. If their image is selected, they will grant the Official Visitor Guide (OVG) limited non-exclusive rights to the photo for use on the OVG Cover (for which credit will be given to the photographer on the inside cover of the OVG) and for use in promotions of the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau and Pikes Peak Country Attractions Association. It is possible that a photo independent of this contest may be chosen for the cover. Photo submissions from amateur and professional photographers are welcome. An original source image of 3872×2592 or larger should be available if chosen. If the original image is under 3872×2592 please provide the source resolution and format (RAW or JPG) available with your entry. Scenic shots preferred. Having people in the image works if they are in the background and not the main subject of the image. Diversity a plus. Model release(s) required. Images with an original resolution of 2592×1944 or less will not be considered. A W-9 and signed agreement is necessary before payment will be awarded.
