Colorado Springs, CO Launches Free Travel App

The Colorado Springs mobile App, Colorado Springs Travel Info., is now available. The App is an official guide to Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region and is now available for free download on iPhone, Android, Blackberry and iPad devices.

Produced by the Colorado Springs Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB), this App allows users to explore the many wonders of Colorado Springs and the region including Pikes Peak-America’s Mountain, Garden of the Gods Park, United States Olympic Training Center and United States Air Force Academy. “As a destination, we are always thinking of the best interactive experience for our leisure and business travelers. This was a natural progression once our mobile website was complete. It’s intriguing to see someone’s trip take on a virtual life of its own,” enthuses CVB VP of Marketing & Membership Amy Long. This App was developed for the Colorado Springs CVB by Discover Anywhere Mobile.

Explore the region through fun and exciting activities and attractions, unique places to stay, best places to eat and an extensive list of live entertainment and art performances & exhibits throughout the region pulled directly from PeakRadar.com. “PeakRadar.com is a comprehensive arts and culture events calendar. This App will help increase cultural participation by keeping residents and visitors connected on the go,” explains Christina McGrath, Executive Director of the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region, the organization that runs PeakRadar.com.

A Few Quick Tips for Holiday Airline Travel

John McGinley, Assistant Director of Operations and Maintenance for the Colorado Springs Airport, shares a few quick holiday travel tips if you plan to fly this season.

The Transportation Security Administration offers the following advice for making your way through holiday lines faster:

* Liquids, gels and aerosols as carry-ons must be in 3oz containers or less, placed in a 1 quart, clear plastic zip-top bag
* One bag per passenger with liquids & or gels to be places in a plastic bin for screening
* Use checked luggage as a fast option for liquids, gels and aerosols
* Have ID and boarding pass out and ready before screening
* Take off shoes and jackets prior to screening
* Take laptops out of their cases
* Do NOT wrap gifts, officers may have to search contents of packages
* Get to the airport early, especially if there is inclement weather
