1. MONARCH MOUNTAIN
This family-friendly resort is located just 126 miles southwest of Colorado Springs and offers a fun and stress free Colorado skiing experience. This "locals" mountain offers shorter lift lines and cheaper tickets.
2. SKI COOPER
Skip the crowded lift lines and head to Cooper. Only 147 miles northwest from the Colorado Springs Airport, you’ll be there in no time at all! Don't forget to book your lift tickets early, and save big on great skiing!
3. SUMMIT COUNTY
Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Winter Park, and Arapahoe Basin are all less than three hours away and easily accessible from Colorado Springs Airport. Avoid the ski traffic and take a relaxing, rural drive along Highway 24 West. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the mountain range and get your first taste of Colorado splendor on your drive up. Why waste precious time in your car when you could be carving that fresh powder?
Monarch Mountain is 126 miles southwest of Colorado Springs and takes approximately 2.5 hours to get there from the Colorado Springs Airport (though budget a bit more time if there is snow on the roads). Monarch Mountain is a local favorite, with abundant natural snow, great terrain and an easy-going, friendly vibe. All runs flow back to a single base lodge, so it's a great choice for groups and families. Enjoy their great food or bring a cooler and store it in the sack lunch room. Parking is free and you can rent equipment and sign up for lessons online or once you arrive.
Cooper is a relaxed and family-friendly place to take a Colorado ski vacation. If you want to skip the crowds, the lines and the high rises, Ski Cooper is the place for you. Ski Cooper is known as "The Heart of Skiing in the Heart of the Rockies" and the resort is located near Leadville, 147 miles northwest of the Colorado Springs Airport. It will take you just under three hours to get there, assuming normal traffic and dry roads.
Take a relaxing, rural drive to Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin using Highway 24 West to Route 9 over Hoosier Pass. There's no need to deal with traffic on I-25 and I-70 when you fly in to the Colorado Springs Airport.
Breckenridge Resort
Breckenridge is 116 miles northwest from the Colorado Springs Airport. The trip takes just under 2.5 hours, assuming usual traffic and dry roads.
Keystone Ski Resort
Keystone is northeast of Breckenridge, 129 miles from the Colorado Springs Airport. The trip takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes.
Arapahoe Basin
Arapahoe Basin is just beyond Keystone to the northeast, 134 miles from the Colorado Springs Airport. The trip takes about 2 hours and 50 minutes.
LOCAL TIP:
Be sure to obey all speed limits, especially in Fairplay, Colorado. Also, adjacent to Fairplay is South Park, the town that the popular animated TV series is based on.
