Colorado Springs is a paradise for outdoor adventure enthusiasts. We partnered with local ambassador Dani Strobel to show us the ropes on the best activities embark on in Colorado Springs. Use this itinerary as your guide to planning your own.
Dani Strobel is a Colorado-based digital creator who loves sharing her passion for outdoor adventures and travel.
Crank up the adventure with a guided tour along the Via Ferrata at Cave of the Winds Mountain Park. You won’t need nerves of steel for this experience, but you will need an adventurous spirit for outdoor climbing fun! The excitement of vertical canyon walls and dual zip lines with amazing views will make for a perfect Colorado outdoor adventure.
Things to know – Via Ferrata is an Italian term that means "iron path". It refers to a protected climbing route that uses steel cables, handles and ladder rungs to make the trail easier and safer.
Dani stayed at Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort - a family-owned, historic, bicycle-themed motor lodge motel run by four generations of cyclists. Located in the heart of Manitou Springs, it's the perfect place for bike enthusiasts to hang their helmets after an action-packed day on the trails. With her stay, Dani also booked a personal Fat Bike Tour through Gold Camp Road.
Things to know – Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Lodge often has live music on Friday and Saturday evenings on their patio. Enjoy awesome music and delicious food trucks!
What better way to be immersed in Colorado than to learn the ways of the Wild West? During Dani's Wild West Experience, she got the chance to participate in archery, air rifle shooting and learned how to throw traditional tomahawks.
Things to know – The experience takes approximately 2.5 hours and advanced reservations are required. Must be at least 8 years old to participate.
After an exhilarating morning of western adventure with Broadmoor Outfitters, The Golden Bee is the perfect spot to refuel in a historic, English pub. The fish and chips with house-made beer batter are hard to beat. The mouth-watering selection of Golden Bee menu favorites will suit any appetite, whether you choose to wash them down with a yard of ale, or whilst singing along to the nightly Ragtime tunes on the piano.
Things to know – Make sure to call ahead for reservations, as this is a very popular restaurant that fills up fast and doesn't take walk-ins.
Take The Broadmoor Falconry Beginners Lesson for the rare opportunity to experience the 4,000-year-old sport of falconry. Feel the thrill of working with majestic birds of prey. Dani interacted with a variety of captive-bred, trained birds, including owls, falcons and hawks. Start with a flying demonstration where you'll learn about the fascinating history of the sport. After learning the appropriate techniques from professional guides, Dani got to hold a trained hawk on her fist.
Things to know – Historically, falconry was used as a status symbol for the nobles of Medieval Europe, the Middle East and the Mongolian Empire.
