Hey cowboys & cowgirls, the NFR Open at the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo is back in Colorado Springs this summer! One of the top ProRodeos in the nation returns July 9 - 13, 2024.
With over 1 million dollars in payouts, the best riders from the PRCA’s U.S. and Canadian Circuits, plus Mexican National Champions, will be bringing top-level competition and excitement to the arena. In addition to watching all the action play out in the arena, shop a wide range of Western vendors, check out the PROBR Fan Zone, and keep your spirits high at the Beer & Wine Corral. In this guide, we’ll look closer at the Rodeo’s rich history, ticketing and parking information, plus what to expect at this crowd-pleasing event.
This iconic rodeo has been entertaining audiences since 1937. The United States Air Force Academy, NORAD/USNORTHCOM, U.S. SPACECOM, Schriever Space Force Base, Peterson Space Force Base, and Fort Carson all call Colorado Springs home which is why the proceeds of the Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo go toward supporting service members and their families in the Pikes Peak Region. The legacy of the Rodeo in the Pikes Peak region was further solidified three decades ago when the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association located their National Headquarters and Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.
The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo 2024 events include bareback riding, breakaway roping, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Over 200 of the best competitors in the business will bring edge-of-your-seat thrills to this year's crowd at the Norris Penrose Event Center. Tuesday through Saturday, evening performances begin at 7 pm, with Matinee performances at noon on Friday and Saturday. There’s a ton to do before the Rodeo begins with grounds opening at 4 pm for evening performances and at 10 am for matinee performances.
Tickets are on sale now and are selling fast! To secure your spot at this unforgettable event, purchase your tickets online directly from PikesPeakorBust.org. Don’t get roped into paying higher prices with ticket re-sellers and beware of scams – the official website is the only trusted source for authentic, best-priced tickets. Before selecting seats, reference the color-coded stadium diagram above. Box seats are closest to the action and are typically the most sought-after. Grandstand seats also offer a great view of the action. Endzone seating, located in front of the roping chutes, still offers a good sight line to the action. Performances sold out in 2023 and are expected to sell out again this year, so we recommend purchasing your tickets as early as possible!
New this year, Premier Paid Parking is available for $10 per spot and must be purchased with your tickets. With limited space, this add-on will sell out quickly. General parking is also available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is also convenient and free offsite parking with a shuttle service to the Rodeo and back.
Before the Rodeo kicks off, explore the vendor stalls offering a wide range of Western wear, hats, toys, souvenirs, and more. Satisfy your taste buds with delicious treats from food vendors, and quench your thirst with refreshing drinks. Then head on over to the PPOBR Fan Zone, where excitement awaits around every corner. Enjoy family-friendly activities like the petting zoo, pony rides, face painting, goat roping, and more. Mutton bustin’ preliminaries are another fan-favorite, where children 4-9 years compete to see who can stay on a sheep longest.
The Beer & Wine Corral is the perfect spot for adults to relax and enjoy a cold one. Kick back, take in the atmosphere, and toast to a memorable night at the rodeo. The Pikes Peak or Bust Rodeo isn’t just an event, it’s a full Western experience.
