Overview
Davis Harwell is a composer for film, TV, media and concert, and has a passion for enhancing stories through music. He composed the score for the feature-length crime drama, “Ridge Runners”, and contributed music to the Oscar-nominated documentary, “Joe’s Violin”. Davis is the founder of Davis Harwell Music, a one-stop-shop for all music scoring and preparation services.
He composed the score for “Beverly”, which has won awards for Best Original Score (Los Angeles Independent Film Festival, TMFF), “I Am Brave”, a documentary from the International Justice Mission, which debuted in January 2019, and “Behave, Kids” which premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood in April 2019.
Davis has been a part of the music department for several noteworthy productions. He composed additional music for the History Channel’s “Roanoke: Search for the Seven” and “Roanoke: A Mystery Carved in Stone”. His music was heard on FOX during the 2017 US Open, and he has contributed music to CBS, NBC, TLC and MTV, among others.
He also has a wide range of corporate partnerships, and composes music for commercials and brand-story films. From music appearing on Delta Air Lines pre-flight presentations to weaving a musical thread through conferences for Papa John’s and Chick-fil-A, Davis has the expertise to creatively collaborate between music and picture across various formats.
In the studio and on the stage, Davis has provided arrangements and music preparation for artists including Maren Morris (Late Night with Jimmy Fallon) and Kelsea Ballerini (Country Music Awards, Spotify Sessions), composed commissioned works for live performance by full orchestra and chamber ensemble, and performed on recordings for Matt Redman, Emily Hearn, Danny Gokey, and Kristian Stanfill.
Davis has composed and produced nearly a dozen solo releases of original works. His original music is available for licensing through Musicbed, where he is an exclusive artist.
Davis is an Atlanta-area native, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. He was a Film Composer Protégé with Whitestone Motion Pictures, worked for Michael John Mollo (John Powell, Velvet Green Music) and has moved from the greater Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Denver areas pursuing his passion for music, film and family. Davis is a member of the American Society of Composers and Producers (ASCAP), the Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL) and the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP).
Davis loves good food, baseball, and spending time in the Rockies with his wife, Mary, and their rescue pup Indy.
