Overview
Mt. Buckhorn Trail is one of the more popular trails near the North Cheyenne Canon Park. The trail forms a portion of Captain Jack's Trail, a popular mountain biking trail. Off road users and mountain bikes love this trail, especially on weekends, so be alert for them.

Trailhead Directions:
Travel south about 0.35 mi. from I-25 (S. Nevada Street exit) and turn right (west) onto W. Cheyenne Blvd. Proceed 2.75 mi. to the intersection of N. Cheyenne Canon Road & S. Cheyenne Canon Road. Turn right at this intersection onto N. Cheyenne Canon Road (past the iron gate) and travel up the winding road for 3.0 miles to the end of the road. There will be an intersection with High Drive (straight ahead), Lower Gold Camp Road (to the right) and the gravel parking lot (to the left). Park in the gravel parking area to the left. The trailhead is at the rear of the parking area. The trail begins at the iron gate that closes Upper Gold Camp Road to motorized vehicles.
CLOSURE:
North Cheyenne Canyon Road will be closed from September 20, 2021, through May 2022. The park will still be accessible via Gold Camp Road. More information on the project here.
