Speakers' Bureau Lecture Series: Union Printers Home
February 11, 2025 4:00 PM –6:00 PM
Event Summary
Ellie Hinkle will be presenting the history of the Union Printers Home. Ms. Hinkle was born and raised in Colorado Springs and has had a lifelong passion for its local history. After completing an advanced degree, she returned to her hometown and began working as the Director of History & Archives for the Union Printers Home in 2021.
The Home was dedicated in 1892 as a care facility for members of the International Typographical Union and continued to serve in a similar capacity until it closed in 2020. It was purchased by a group of local investors in 2021 to preserve its history and redevelop the property into a vibrant new mixed-use neighborhood. Ellie's presentation will detail the history of the Home and give a brief glimpse into some of the plans for the future of Printers Hill.
