CMEA All-stars

Jam session host: Bassist and composer Jason Crowe has performed or recorded with a variety of artists including Marvin Stamm, Ernie Watts, Randy Brecker, The New York Voices, Crystal Gayle, Vince Gill, Amy Grant, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, and more. He has performed at the Monterrey and Montreux Jazz Festivals, as well as Carnegie Hall and the Grand Ole Opry. While in the USAF Academy Band Jason recorded extensively including the Grammy recognized recording, Sharing the Freedom.

Jonathan Powell had a 20-year freelance career as a trumpet player in the NYC salsa and Latin jazz scene. Jonathan has been Eddie Palmieri’s first call trumpet player since 2013 and has helped Arturo O'Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra bring home Grammy wins in 2014, 2015 and 2020. Jonathan has performed and recorded with the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Miguel Zenon Big Band, Oscar Hernandez and Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Ricky Martin, Tito Puente Jr. and many more. Recently, Jonathan has released his latest album “Jonathan Powell’s Mambo Jazz Party”. Jonathan also currently performs with the Air Force Falconaires.

Guitarist Matt Horanzy is a current member of the Air Force Academy Falconaires Jazz Ensemble and the Air Force Academy Band. Prior to the Air Force, Matt spent 2 years with the BMI Jazz Composers Workshop in New York City and has won the ASMAC Bill Conti competition among other awards. His music has been performed by the Airmen of Note, the New York City Jazz Orchestra, and the American University Orchestra to name a few.

Drummer Tim Stombaugh is a current member of the Air Force Academy Falconaires Jazz Ensemble. Tim has performed professionally with Bunky Green, Bill Prince, Ernie Watts, Conrad Herwig, and Al Hood among others. He has been called to substitute for Butch Miles in the legendary Count Basie Orchestra in addition to tours with the Broadway musicals "The Full Monty" and "42nd Street." Tim has also traveled the country with Alligator Recording artists "Mofro."
