VCOS CEO Doug Price Wins Outstanding Colorado Tourism Champion Award
Price was awarded at the 2023 Governor’s Tourism Conference in Fort Collins, CO
Colorado Springs, Colo. – Tuesday, October 3, 2023 – On Thursday, September 26, Visit Colorado Springs President and CEO Doug Price was awarded the Outstanding Colorado Tourism Champion recognition at the 2023 Governor’s Tourism Conference, presented by the Colorado Tourism Office.
This prestigious award recognizes an individual who has been in the tourism industry for more than five years and has made significant contributions toward promoting and developing the Colorado tourism industry.
“There are few people who have championed Colorado Springs at the same level as Doug Price,” said Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade. “Doug isn’t just a cheerleader. Doug gets things done, and I'm honored to call him a friend. What Doug has accomplished in helping to transform the landscape of the Pikes Peak Region is remarkable. Colorado Springs is Olympic City USA in large part because of his visionary efforts, and his involvement in and support of the City for Champions projects has been critical in their success. This statewide recognition is well-deserved, and I can say with confidence that Colorado Springs is a better place because of Doug Price.”
Price was applauded for his roles on the Board of Directors for organizations like the Colorado Tourism Office, Colorado Springs Downtown Partnership and Pikes Peak Lodging Association. He also played integral roles in co-founding and leading the Olympic City USA Task Force and the City for Champions projects that brought five new state-of-the-art facilities to Colorado Springs. In March 2023, Price received the 2023 Spirit of the Springs award from Mayor John Suthers for his dedication and commitment to Colorado Springs.
Other finalists for the 2023 Outstanding Colorado Tourism Champion were Charlotte Bumgarner, Executive Director of the Gold Belt Tour Scenic & Historic Byway and Vicky Nash, Executive Director of Hot Springs Association. In addition to Price’s award win, Weylin Ryan, Sustainability & Policy Manager at Visit Durango, who is mentored by Price through the Colorado Leadership Journey program, received the 2023 Rising Tourism Star award.
