Visit Colorado Springs Encourages Early Vacation Planning
Employees aren’t using their PTO, but planning can help
Colorado Springs, Colo. – January 18, 2023 – Tuesday, January 31st is National Plan for Vacation Day. This day is celebrated annually by the U.S. Travel Association to encourage Americans to plan their time off for the year.
“Our organization sets aside time each January for employees to sit down and map out vacation time for the upcoming year,” said Doug Price, President and CEO of Visit Colorado Springs. “Planning and requesting time off in advance makes it much more likely that those days will be used.”
According to a recent study by Sorbet, the issue of using PTO has only gotten worse since before COVID. In 2022, 55% of PTO went unused vs. only 28% in 2019. Doug Price, President & CEO at Visit Colorado Springs, believes companies can – and should – be doing more to encourage PTO use.
“Please join us on Tuesday, January 31st in prioritizing time off for employees,” said Price. “It’s never too early to plan your next vacation.”
