Visit Colorado Springs Integrates Accessibility Tool Into Website
Recite Me will allow users to customize website experience while browsing VisitCOS.com
October 8, 2024 – Colorado Springs, Colo. – As part of Visit Colorado Springs’ continued commitment to accessibility and inclusion, the organization has recently penned a partnership with software company Recite Me.
Recite Me is an online accessibility toolbar that allows website visitors to tailor pages to their specific needs and preferences. The integration will allow users to increase text size, adjust color contrast, translate web pages into more than 100 languages and more. The tool will also allow VCOS to identify current gaps in accessibility and ensure compliance with Colorado’s House Bill 21-1110, requiring all state digital resources meet WCAG 2.1 guidelines.
“Visit Colorado Springs remains committed to improving the accessibility of our destination, and that begins with access to information. Potential visitors and locals alike will now be able to navigate our website with ease,” said President and CEO Doug Price.
This partnership is the latest of VCOS’ accessibility initiatives. In addition to being a member of Wheel the World’s Destination Verified program, a recent collaboration included a series of video and photo shoots around the Pikes Peak Region. The VCOS team received a library of digital assets showcasing the region’s accessible offerings and attractions, which are being used in a dedicated advertising campaign aimed at increasing awareness of what the Pikes Peak Region has to offer when it comes to accessibility.
