Visit Colorado Springs Launches Ultimate Pikes Peak Challenge
Complete challenges around Pikes Peak and Manitou Springs to earn limited-edition merit badges
Colorado Springs, Colo. – June 21, 2021 – Earlier this week, Visit Colorado Springs launched The Ultimate Pikes Peak Challenge. The program is compiled of 25 unique challenges for visitors and locals alike to complete as they explore Pikes Peak and the town of Manitou Springs.
The program is free and is easily accessible from a mobile device. After signing up, users will be able to ‘check in’ on the web app as they complete each challenge – either by visiting each destination and using their phone location to verify or by answering the “challenge” questions.
“With so many exciting new and renewed attractions and activities returning to Pikes Peak this summer, we are excited to invite visitors and locals to find their adventure on America’s Mountain,” said Melissa Williams, Director of Marketing at Visit COS.
Upon conclusion of the challenge at the end of September, Visit COS will calculate how many challenges each user has completed to determine how many embroidered merit badges they have earned. Challenges include climbing the Manitou Incline, driving Pikes Peak Highway and taking a selfie with the Bigfoot Crossing sign along the highway.
The $75,000 campaign is a co-operative effort with the Manitou Springs Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau and is partly funded with a Marketing Matching Grant from the Colorado Tourism Office.
