Visit Colorado Springs Urges Locals to Use Vacation Time
Taking time off is proven to reduce burnout, reduce stress
Colorado Springs, Colo. – January 21, 2025 – Next Tuesday, January 28th is National Plan for Vacation Day. This annual holiday encourages Americans to map out their paid vacation time for the year.
“Each year, our team hosts a staff lunch where we map out vacation time for the upcoming year,” said Doug Price, President and CEO of Visit Colorado Springs. “We show off photos from our favorite vacations last year and discuss where we plan to go in the upcoming months.”
Studies routinely show that when employees take the time to plan trips in advance, they are more likely to follow through and use their vacation days. According to a study conducted by Sorbet, Americans had more than $312 billion in unused PTO in 2024. This number is up 14% from 2017. The American Psychological Association states that taking time off can reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, improve productivity and increase overall life satisfaction.
“Please join us on Tuesday, January 28th in encouraging employees to submit their time-off requests,” said Price. “It’s never too early to plan your next adventure.”
Using vacation time doesn’t have to mean hopping on a plane for a cross-country trip. Load up the car and check out these nearby attractions right outside the city limits:
