Fastest Ascent
On September 14, 2022, Remi Bonnet set the record for fastest Manitou Incline ascent making the climb in 17 minutes, 25 seconds. Allie McLaughlin holds the record for fastest woman to make the ascent, completing the climb in 20 minutes 7 seconds on July 19, 2010.
First to Climb the Incline More Than 500 Times in One Year
Greg Cummings was the first person to climb the Manitou Incline more than 500 times in one year, completing the ascent 601 times in 2011.
Climbed Most Often
In 2020, Greg Cummings set the record for most number of Manitou Incline Ascents in a year. He made the ascent 1,825 times in a 365 day period. During this challenge Cummings gained a total of 3.6 million vertical feet setting a World Record.
First Fully Functioning Quadriplegic Climb
In 2022, Patrick Rummerfield climbed the Manitou Incline unassisted. He is the first fully functioning quadriplegic man to summit, with a time of 6 hours, 1 minute and 23 seconds. Rummerfield dedicated his hike to Missouri Kids, a nonprofit that supports student athletes who have been seriously injured.
Oldest Known Climber
In September 2023, Jim Strub of Colorado Springs became the oldest known person to have climbed the Incline at 94 years old, alongside his son Jordon and friend John.
Inclinathon
The Manitou Incline Inclinathon consists of 13 consecutive trips up and down the incline completed in one day. Ed Baxter was the first person to complete the Inclinathon completing the 13 trips in just over 13 hours in 2012. The current record holder is Wade Gardner who broke the speed record at 10hrs 34 minutes on May 16, 2015. The female record holder is Andrea Sansone who completed the 13 trips in just under 16 hours on May 31, 2022.
Ultra-Iclinathon
The Ultra-Iclinathon consists of multiple laps of the incline being completed in a 24 hour period. The current male record holder is Brandon Stapanowich who completed 22 laps of the incline in 24 hours on July 5, 2014. During his Ultra-Iclinathon he gained a total of 44,000 feet of altitude. The female record holder is Andrea Sansone who completed 19 laps on May 31, 2022.
